What we do...

Below is a list of opportunities for you and your family to participate in at Tikvat Yisrael.  There are many programs at Tikvat Yisrael that are active throughout the week.  We encourage everyone to connect and build relationships and find areas where you feel comfortable serving in and having your needs met.  Giving and receiving are all part of community life here at Tikvat Yisrael Messianic Synagogue

  • Children & Youth education

Our youth programs are a safe and undistracted place for our children and youth to grow in relationships with God and each other.  The Shema prayer from Deut.6 tells us to teach our children when we arise and when we lie down and when we walk along the way.  Training our children begins in the home, but also in the community.  Tikvat trains and screens all employees, volunteers and youth workers who work with any minors.  Programs begin with Nursery that is provided to parents of infants through age 4 during services.  At age 5-11, elementry-age children are welcome to participate in our Shabbat School program lead by Carrie Rodriguez and a team of qualified teachers who begin the process of religious education including early Hebrew knowledge.  Quickly the children grow and by age 12 for girls and 13 for boys they graduate with a "Bnei Mitzvah" into our Youth Program.  Teens up until age 18 are welcome to participate in our "Ha Nevchar" Youth organization which meets monthly here at Tikvat, and retreats and youth conferences with the YMJA (Young Messianic Jewish Alliance):  The Messianic Jewish national Youth program.

  • havurah  חבורה

Havurah means: "fellowship", plural chavurot) is a small group of like-minded Jews who assemble for the purposes of facilitating and sharing communal experiences such as lifecycle events, or Jewish learning,, Shabbat and other prayer services.  Small groups of Tikvat members meet throughout the week and at various places in and around Cleveland, some in homes, libraries and even a nursing home!  Contact us for the closest Havurah to you!

  • Worship & liturgical ministry

Do you play an instrument, or sing? Tikvat's services are full of Messianic Jewish dynamic praise and worship music, and if you are spiritually gifted in this area, there is always a place for qualified musicians and singers to serve.  Under the direction of Sonny Bihary, the worship team meets weekly for rehearsals.  Members in good standing who are willing to serve may audition for a place on the worship team.  Likewise, Tikvat's Liturgy team is also a place for those interested in serving in the area of leading the cantillations and prayers of the synagogue.  While both worship and liturgy teams consist of volunteers, we strive for quality and excellence in all of our services.  Rather than "performing" we are serving and singing to the Adon Olam (King of the Universe).

  • messianic men's club

גִּבּוֹרֵי הַחַיִל (Giborei Hachayil) "Mighty Men of Valor" is the way the Bible describes the men who conquered the Land of Israel under Joshua.  Messianic Men gather together throughout the month regularly building each other up, strengthening their relationships with each other and God and encourage each other to become better husbands, fathers and leaders in our community.  Accountability is a spiritual defense against the forces of evil in this world that want to take us down.  All adult men are welcome at the gatherings of any age or status, married, single, young or old. Contact our office to get more information on the gathering of the brothers.

sisterhood

Tikvat's Sisterhood is very active and meets monthly along with other planned outings throughout the year, as well as an annual Women's Retreat. The ladies meet for Bible Studies, social events, worship, prayer and learning. They actively support Cleveland's Jewish Family Services Hebrew Shelter Home for homeless women and children. They all desire to grow and become Women of Valor (Prov. 31)

תקון עולם‎ tikun olam programs

Tikvat is committed to lives changed and making an impact in our community.  We do this in many ways.  First, we believe in the power of prayer.  There are two teams of intercessors at Tikvat, some who meet daily to pray for those in our community who are ill or in need, and pray for others one on one at our services; and the IFI (Intercessors for Israel) team meets weekly to pray for the State of Israel and all of the needs of our people there.  IFI (Intercessors for Israel) is our local expression of IFI based in Jerusalem, see the link below for more information.  Our Cleveland Joseph Project provides donated tangible goods and food as well as financial donations to the poor of the local Jewish Community of Cleveland including the disabled and Holocaust survivors, we believe actions speak louder than words to our people.  Another critical ministry is Tikvat Yisrael's Outreach.  Sharing the Good News of Yeshua to our Jewish people is a core value of Messianic Judaism, and one way we fulfill this purpose is through our Aleph Program among others.  Click the links below to learn more and pray and ask God where He would have you serve...
